Welcome Our Newest Co-Blogger, Kaze!

I’m really proud of the group of writers we have here on Beneath the Tangles.  Of varied backgrounds and experiences, they represent the blog well and are better writers than I am.  And although I was actively looking to add a new blogger to the group, I connected with Kaze and it seemed clear to both of us that he was meant to join our ranks.  Please welcome him!  You’ll get a taste of his unique perspective on Wednesday, when he’ll be sharing his first post, a very personal one.

In the meantime, get to know Kaze a little more through the Q&A below:

TWWK:   How did you become a fan of anime?

Kaze:  I originally watched childhood classics such as DBZ, CCS, Kenshin, and Gundam Wing. The first Japanese-dubbed anime I saw was probably Love Hina, and from there I moved onto very standard gateway anime: FMA and the big 3, and I really enjoyed them so I looked for more; before I knew it, I was keeping up with anime that was currently airing and here I am now.

TWWK:  What are your favorite types or genres of anime? How about favorite shows?

Kaze:  I’m willing to watch almost anything as long as it is legitimately good, but as far as favorite genre, it’s definitely romance. ef~A Tale of Memories and its sequel is still one of my favorite shows. Bungaku Shoujo is another one of my favorites, and I’m sad to see it only get a movie and a few OVAs. Other favorites include Nanoha, Katanagatari, and Hunter x Hunter.

TWWK:  What do you do in “real life”?  What are your other interests?

Kaze:  I am currently a student studying biotechnology and will actually be continuing school in Tokyo this coming fall. To say I’m excited would be an understatement. I honestly don’t have many interests outside anime; I play some games, mostly Brood War. Also, I’m obligated to mention I’m a huge Nana Mizuki fan.

TWWK:  Where else can readers find you?

Kaze:  You can find me on BeneaththeTangles! Heh, I don’t really use anything that involves having followers but if you really want to stalk me, I do stream anime/VNs/Nana concerts at www.justin.tv/kazehydra on semi-rare occasions.

TWWK:  The theme of this blog is unique since it revolves around Christian spirituality. You are a Christian. Could you give us the short testimony about how you came to this faith?

Kaze:  I grew up surrounded by Christians: family, friends, and school were all Christian. One could certainly argue I was only a believer because I grew up in such an environment, but even as I became older and was exposed to different ideas, I still maintained my beliefs while accepting others’. God has always been a pivotal part of my life and always will be =)

TWWK:  You’re going to be bringing a different voice to this blog.  Could you explain how you plan to approach you writing on BtT?

Kaze:  As a Christian, I can read the posts here on BtT and appreciate the messages you’re trying to get across. Yet, as strictly an anime fan, I can find it difficult to take the content seriously. The reason is because the nature of this blog has been to approach anime from a Christian perspective, resulting in topics that anime fans may not care for. Instead, I plan to approach Christianity from the perspective of an anime fan first. I hope my writing will really appease to the bigger anime fans that are out there and that they will be able to at least appreciate the topics I discuss, even if they don’t necessarily like the Christian parallels I draw.

TWWK:  Thanks, Kaze – and we look forward to reading your posts and seeing how they help mold this blog!

  1. Kaze, welcome to Beneath The Tangles. I am excited about having the pleasure of blogging with you. I am also interested in hearing your perspective. I will wait eagerly for your coming post.

  2. Eventually, TWWK will recruit all the greatest ani-bloggers and we’ll be unstoppable, I’m sure!

Welcome, Kaze~ I look forward to seeing your posts. ^_^

    1. Psshhh…I think I’ve already done that! The “recruiting all the greatest ani-bloggers” part, not the becoming “unstoppable” part. 😛

      1. We’re not unstoppable yet, but we will be when we get our magic-girl mid-season power-ups!
