This week will be our first round of 32 anime series. Next week will be our “Sweet Sixteen.” Voting will be counted through Saturday, March 5, 2016 at midnight, so get in your votes.

Want to argue in favor of your favorite series? Don’t see your favorite anime series was on the list? Want to predict which series will be in the Final Four? Feel free to continue the conversation about which of these series is better in the comments section below!

P.S. Yes, I know today is not officially March. But, February was extra long this year being a Leap Year and I didn’t feel like having the poll start on a Tuesday.

EDIT: For those who are unable to view the form above, here is a link directly to the poll. Our poll was prepared via Google Forms.

  1. This is awesome! The only snub I’m sad about is Clannad After Story because it is my all-time favorite.

    1. Thanks, Oaty. I’m new here – so I decided we’re going to try something new! We’ll see how this goes and, if well, plan to see it again next year – with some new series included.

I tried to pick a “Top 32” series from a relatively unbiased source which had a good mix of older and newer series. Ranker seemed to fit what I was looking for in a list for our first time doing this. This is a learning experience for us all. Stay tuned next week for Round 2, our Sweet Sixteen.

  2. While yes you did bring in some good shows, my personal advice would’ve been to lump together the series that were sequels of each other naurto vs shippuden SAO I vs II or pick only one of the ones that are doubled. eg 2011 HXH only or only FMA:B that would have freed up about 5 spots for other great shows.

BTW I’m glad to see none of my favorites are in facing each other in the first round.

    1. I hear you. And, expect this to be better organized next year (if the readers enjoy doing this, this year!).

That said, I think there is merit in comparing reboots like HxH vs HxH 2011 & FMA vs FMA: Brotherhood. I get the point on SAO vs SAO: II, and to a lesser extend DB vs DBZ. But remakes which are both beloved are worth exploring to see which people prefer. And, I put them in round 1 together to ensure you don’t get a silly final 2 of Dragon Ball vs Dragon Ball Z (or some other alternative).

Thanks and be sure to check in next week for the results of this round as well as our next poll of Sweet 16 anime series!

  3. Wow, where did you get these rankings? Hard for me to imagine a world where both Sword Art Onlines are included among the “best” but Evangelion and Madoka are not. I’d suggest to take out the two related series and just combine them into one. I’d also suggest you check out my long-running Anime Bracket later this month, where I’ve been doing this kind of thing since 2009. Only, the winners are all subject to my whims.

    1. I took the rankings from the aggregator site “Ranker.com” – if we do this again next year, expect the new list to be a) based on this year’s polls and b) based on the rankings from the editors here at BtT. This is a new bit we’re trying out, so we’ll see how it works out and – I think it’s fun to have our readers decide on their favorites!

Also, I’m still shocked Evangelion didn’t fall into the Top 32. If we do this again next year, I have a feeling I’ll be fighting to include it 🙂

    1. If the poll is not showing up in your browser, try the direct link included in the edit at the bottom of the page. Thanks for coming and voting! ^_^

    2. There is a form on the main page here at BtT which shows up for some people, but not for others. It’s a Google Form, so some ad blockers end up blocking the content. There is, however, a link to the form/poll as Japes mentioned, in the text. Make sure to get in your vote!
