TangleCast 1: Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress (Koutetsujou no Kabaneri)

For months, we’ve been promising an update to The Tangles Podcast since it went on hiatus… and it’s finally here! We are proud to present to you our new official podcast, complete with new hosts, a new logo, and a new format: The TangleCast!

In our new podcast format, instead of one 1-2 hour episode each month, we will instead be bringing you 10 minutes of content each and every week. And bringing you this content will be 2-4 of our permanent podcast staff: JP (Japesland), Kaze, Jack (R86), and Casey (CutsceneAddict).

Every episode of The TangleCast will be covering a different topic, from anime review, to discussions on spirituality, to listener mail, and everything in between. For this week, however, we’re thrilled to have all four of our podcasters on to talk about our impressions of the first episode of Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress (Koutetsujou no Kabaneri).

  1. A solid first episode if I do say so myself. I look forward to re-visiting this subject in the future, sometime after I’ve seen the first episode (and hopefully a bit more of this season’s offerings). Everyone came through well, and the time was well-balanced. I think the 10-min size is going to greatly improve on conciseness and audience participation, too.

    1. Hahaha, of course not! It’s unfortunate that we weren’t able to keep it going as it was, but I’m excited to be able to share the new format every week from now on!

  2. Every anime news site also keeps sharing it as a “second SNK”…. I will have to check it out. I am glad that the podcast is back up!

  3. Great to see the podcast is back! The running time of ten minutes is much more user friendly, and I’m looking forward to more chats.

Well, that podcast decided me not to see Kabaneri. Sounds too similar to SnK, and I dropped that after episode nine.

  4. Saw the first episode thanks to the podcast .It’s….ok, but yes, looks similar to Attack on Titan (SnK, whatever 🙂

But yeah, I just want to know where the Kabane come from and be done with the show. I want to just skip to the end and be done with it cause it looks like it’s going down the same route as AoT….

  5. I like the old podcasts more. And YES I am LOVING Kabaneri!!!! the art style is beautiful!!!

    1. Aw, well I’m sorry our new format doesn’t suit your tastes as well. Now that 6 weeks have passed, I can say that I am fully enjoying Kabaneri for what it is: beautiful, mindless action. And boy is it pretty. 😛
