Space Battleship Tiramisu Zwei (Uchuu Senkan Tiramisù II) is a short-form sequel anime series to the original Space Battleship Tiramisu which aired in Spring 2018. It picks up right where the original series left off with our hero, mech pilot Subaru Ichinose having crash landed on Earth with is brother, who is an integral part of the enemy camp! The first episode is much like the original series, following them around and focusing on the mundane aspects of the storyline as it progresses further. They deal with their crashed mechs, get picked up by the Earth forces, and find a gift shop during visit to an underwater base…with a model of Surbaru’s mech on sale! We meet also meet an important new character who was an important figure in both of the brother’s lives.
Season 2 seems to me that while it will focus on silly, mundanity of everyday life as a mech pilot, this first episode implies that this season will be furthering of the plot. Maybe we’ll learn more about the brother’s background and family. Maybe we’ll have more mech battles. Maybe I’ll be 100% wrong and the sequel will primarily show me more of Ichinose’s bare butt. Who knows, but at 7 minutes a week I am willing to take the risk. I encourage you to check out Season 1 first and make your own decision on it too.
