Giveaway: Two Tickets to See Spirited Away in Theaters!

My first anime experience in theaters remains my best. I saw Spirited Away when it premiered in the U.S. in 2002, and even though I had already seen a couple Studio Ghibli films, I was not prepared for what an amazing experience it would be to watch Miyazaki’s latest on the big screen.

GKIDS and Fathom Events are the midst of Studio Ghibli Fest, through which they’re screening a number of the studio’s film in select North American theaters. Spirited Away gets its turn on October 27th, 28th, and 30th, and we’d love to send you and a friend! All you have to do is be following one of our social media platforms and either on there or in the comments below tell us whom your favorite Ghibli heroine is. Is it Chihiro? Ponyo? Nausicaa? Someone else? We’d love to know!

The screenings are in North America, so please be living here in the states. We’ll arrange a time and place for your screening after selecting a random winner two weeks from today.

Good luck!

  1. That’s an easy one, Nausicaa. She will always have a special place in my heart because it was one of the first anime I ever saw as a kid (even though it was the unauthorized and butchered dub from the 80’s) and would watch the movie over and over again. The movie and she were just so fantastic and different then anything else, and her flying glider always intrigued me, even as an adult engineer I am always curious if something like that could be made in real life.

    1. Nausicaa is an amazing character! Also, I’ve never seen Warriors of the Wind…I’ve always wanted to see how terribly they messed it up. 😆

  2. I’m not sure who my fav heroine is (haven’t watched all the movies yet). 😅

I have seen Spirited Away (not in theaters, but at home), but I really want to see The Secret World Of Arrietty in theaters September 29th. I still haven’t seen it yet!

  3. Followed you on @v0iceskz on twitter.
My favorite ghibli heroine is Sophie from Howl’s Moving Castle. I’ve always just seen her as being super super badass and extremely strong despite all the things she had to deal with like ya know becoming an old woman lol. Thank you for this giveaway opportunity! I saw spirited away on dvd when I was a kid and I would love to see it on the big screen!

  4. It was bad, I can’t remember exactly but I think the movie was like 30 minutes shorter because of the cuts. Two of the scenes left out were the one where Nausicaa is in her secret garden talking to Yupa about how the plants aren’t innately toxic and the flash back to when she found the baby Ohm and tried to hide it from her father.

Also I liked the casting article, thanks for showing me a real life Mehve glider exists!
