First Impression: The Most Notorious “Talker” Runs the World’s Greatest Clan

Noel’s grandfather is a legendary seeker, known for slaying numerous beasts that came from the abyss. After his grandfather dies in battle, Noel wants to follow in his footsteps. There is one problem though, his role is to be a Talker, which means his combat skills are worthless. The only way he could become a great seeker would be by forming a clan filled with strong members who he can support with his Talker skills. While battling a boss, we see that Noel’s a competent tactician. Despite his weak party members, he believes they could start a clan and work their way up. His suggestion isn’t received as well as he hoped though. Will his party members go along with his plan, or do they have other ideas?

With a premise like this, it’s of utmost importance to make the main characters and their backstory interesting. But Noel is not an interesting character, and I don’t think this first episode does a good job of making me care about him. The other characters in this episode aren’t anything special either, and some of the dialogue made me cringe a bit. I don’t like the art style, and the animation is very uninspired. Both the action and dialogue scenes have very boring visuals. Needless to say, I don’t think the appeal of this anime is very broad. There is one thing I liked: the ending of the first episode has a more interesting twist than I expected, so if you really like the idea of a buffer/tactician main character, then it might be worth watching a few episodes. As for me, the quality of the animation and writing is too low to make it worth sticking around.

The Most Notorious “Talker” Runs the World’s Greatest Clan is streaming on Crunchyroll.
