Funnily enough some of the people from my young adults group at church will regularly go out to eat after service.
I think time spent eating together is one of the best ways to bond!
YEP after all that’s what the disciples did.
This was so enjoyable to listen to! Thanks for answering my questions, too! Its very nice to hear about the Japanese culture from an American who’s actually experiencing it first hand. 😀
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Of course, take my views with a grain of salt, since I’m incredibly biased both in my personal views and my personal experiences.
Wow! That’s so interesting to hear about the role of redemption in Japanese culture! Their hunger for it shows it in their entertainment for sure. Your answer reminds me of this movie my dad made me watch “The Yakuza”, where the main character had to cut off his finger in order to apologize… that’s a very foreign idea in Western Culture and even more in Christianity. It’s like they feel they have to buy forgiveness where as follows of Christ, we know that forgiveness is free in Christ. By the way, “The Yakuza” was an amazing movie, if you like Japan, sword fights, and the 70’s… then this movie is for you.
I believe sociologists call that the difference between a shame-based culture (Japan) and a guilt-based culture (the West). Of course I’m no expert in that field, so I may be misremembering…
In any case, thanks for the recommendation and thank you so much for submitting questions and listening to the episode!
Fantastic episode! I’m glad that my question led to so much discussion. This was very fascinating and it gives me a good perspective on Japan. Very good listen!
I’m glad you enjoyed it! I hope my very biased opinion was of some use to you!
Awesome episode! My questions got answered and I learned more about Japanese culture (some of which did surprise me). and their views. I am glad i listened.
Yay! I’m glad you submitted the questions you did, and I’m glad you were satisfied with my answers! Thanks for listening! ^_^
