TangleCast 41: That Time Isekai Got Reincarnated as Something Different

This week on the TangleCast, guest podcaster, Andrew, joins David, Peter, and our newest team member, Holly (Anime Pop Heart) to talk about the season’s most interesting isekai selection (sorry Sword Art Online): That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. They discuss the significance of names, explain the awesomeness of Shizue, and try to determine who the real villain of the story is.  Give a listen!

And we want your feedback as well! Each week we’ll ask a question on the podcast and feature your answers the next time that team rolls around. Here’s this week’s CQ (Cast Question): If you could be reborn into an anime, which one would it be?

Check us out on iTunes or through our RSS Feed! Also, check out this Instagram post featuring the team working on the podcast. If you’re wondering if Peter was exaggerating about A Place Further Than the Universe, the New York Times doesn’t think so. Featured art by NEWEY (reprinted w/permission).

  1. Choice for personal isekai experience would depend on a lot of things. Will I get any magical powers? Will I be on my own for a while, or quickly meet some genuinely good people who will help me learn about the world and take care of me? In light of TTIGRAAS, will I even still be human? What about parents, if any? (I mean, at least 50% of all anime parents are dead or evil, right?)

  2. In the Slime anime, I also really appreciated the part of where he showed the girl Japan’s destruction and growth after WW2. It’s really amazing to see how much things can change over the course of a lifetime even as we let events take their natural course.
I noticed the Starcraft reference in the podcast. Do you play Starcraft 2? I’d be interested in play some games with you if you are.

    1. Hey, Tyler B! I actually played Brood War over 10 years ago! Haha. Never played SC2. I’m so sorry for the late reply!!
