First Impression: Bungo and Alchemist -Gears of Judgement-

This is a story about a story, a particular one titled Run, Melos. The anime starts off in what seems like ancient Rome or Greece (just guessing), with a girl being married and her brother who put the wedding together is nowhere to be found.

He is running away since he was caught attempting to kill the king of the land, who now wants him dead instead. His friend took his place and told him to go see his sister who just got married before he dies. Of course, he doesn’t do that and makes a break for it instead. While catching his breath, a man with a sword orders him to go back and rescue his friend, which eventually turns the whole show on its animated head.

Once he arrives to save the friend, dark creatures show up and the mysterious man who suddenly has sword fighting abilities takes them out with ease. He claims that this is a story, and these evil shadows called Taints want to erase the story and it’s contents, thus ending the life of the author (Melos) who is trapped in the story.

This anime was going in different directions at the same time, with not a lot of time to explain what is going on. The more I watched, the more confused I was. For example, at the end, there’s a talking cat and it’s not explained why. I would have to watch more of the show to fully understand what is going on.

I’m not sure if I will watch it again, but maybe if I’m bored I’ll give it one more try. Just to say I tried!
