First Impression: Higehiro: After Being Rejected, I Shaved and Took in a High School Runaway

Yoshida-san is a typical, boring guy, with his eyes set on a young woman he went out to eat with. After asking her if she would go to his place, she declines, replying that she’s seeing someone else. Yoshida is bothered by the rejection that he goes out with a friend and gets drunk, ubt while walking home alone, he meets a teenage girl under a lightpole. He asks her why she is there, and she explains that she has no place to stay. She offers to sleep with him if she allows him to stay at his place, but Yoshida refuses—and still her stay anyway.

The girl, Suya, tries a few more times to seduce Yoshida, but he replies that he isn’t interested in her. He tells her she can stay for the time being, on the terms that she does chores at his house. Since he is pretty messy, she has plenty to do and is happy with the arrangement. By the end of episode one, he buys her some new clothes and a futon to sleep on more comfortably, but remains confused as to why she ran away from home and what she is doing in Tokyo since she is from Hokkaido.

Ok, so I had no idea what I was getting into when I picked this one up, which is why I like writing First Impressions pieces in the first place. Warning to the guys especially, there is fan-service in this episode around the first half and sex is mentioned a couple of times, so you may want to skip this one if you don’t want to deal with that. Overall, though, I liked the episode. Albeit, Yoshida wants to sleep with a woman pretty desperately, but his actions toward Suya indicates that he isn’t some terrible guy,. I am interested to see how their story plays out, even though episode one doesn’t stand out for any particular reason.

  1. Be warned this runaway teenage girl has been selling her body to have a place to stay. She’s racked up a body count before meeting the main character.
