Adachi is an office worker. But not just any office worker. No, he has gained the power of mind reading as a result of preserving his virginity for thirty years. So to answer the title: Sorta? The catch is that he can only read minds when he’s touching the person. He laments that this doesn’t help him read the minds of women, because he doesn’t dare touch any. But he does find out something unexpected from his handsome and popular male coworker Kurosawa, namely that this man has a mad crush on him. This makes him very uncomfortable, but throughout the episode he can’t seem to avoid him. He ends up spending the night at his place after he misses the last train and goes out to dinner with him. During this time Kurosawa doesn’t necessarily do anything inappropriate to him, but Adachi knows better because he can read his thoughts. The episode ends with Adachi disappointing Kurosawa, because he doesn’t want to be indebted to Kurosawa or rely on him in the future.

As much as it’s the intention of the anime, I simply can’t ship Adachi with Kurosawa. For the most part I already knew this from reading the synopsis, because I personally don’t believe homosexual relationships are in line with God’s law and purpose for us. I’m also not part of the target audience of an anime like this. But for what it’s worth, I think the nonnarrative-related elements of the episode were good. The art, animation, and voice acting were all well-produced. I noticed, too, that if you ignore all the weirdness surrounding the whole virginity-powered mind reading, the events in the episode are kind of wholesome. If we didn’t hear Kurosawa’s thoughts, he would merely be a very kind guy, who looks after a colleague who is having a rough time overworking. When I realized that, I wished this anime belonged to a different genre. But not all anime are made for me, so I’ll have to accept that and move on, and I won’t continue watching this one.
