Ooo, I love the play of green and red in this picture! The green of the big tree in the background, and the eyes, and the nails, and the gift, and then the little tree on the table draws your eyes through the image. The red works to counter balance the green, mellowing the picture so the green doesn’t look so stark. The artist really thought about the composition and how to make a relatively simple image look much more dynamic!
