First Impression: I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level Season 2

Azusa, a corporate slave who died from overwork, was reincarnated as an immortal witch who decided to live an easygoing life that only involved killing a couple of slimes every day. Over 300 years, the experience from killing all those slimes maxed out her level, and she started living with various other girls she meets up with. Her many newfound companions include a pair of slime spirits that she had adopted as her daughters, and having discovered rice and red beans in her new world, she sets out to create a classic snack from her past life for their sake. Later, a goddess makes her appearance in the world, and with the very studious Shalsha wanting to see a goddess with her own eyes, Azusa takes her on a trip, unaware that she might be more familiar with this goddess than she thinks…

Like a kid getting to meet a movie star.

Plenty of isekai anime and light novels focus on portraying a relaxing “slow life,” and Killing Slimes is right up there with its colorful cast of friendly girls and focus on the hijinks they cause and just overall enjoying everyday life. The first episode of season two continues in this vein, as we are reintroduced to the cast and watch as Azusa dotes on her daughters and sets out to meet a goddess. The theological implications here are amusing: Because gods and goddesses made a major appearance in history, atheism is basically non-existent. Then those gods started chasing various trends, and now they are more or less treated like pop idols. So yeah, this probably is not a show you watch for realistic theology, but it definitely fits the tone of the story and makes for an amusing story for this episode. Overall, this episode is as charming and relaxing as I remember Killing Slimes to be, which is all I need for the start of a new season.

I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level is streaming on Crunchyroll.
