God is so good.
This year, we celebrated our 15th year as a ministry. That’s only, only possible through God’s blessing. We’ve endured burnout, the niche-ness of anime, the explosion of anime (and finding our place within that!), changing algorithms on Google and social media, and not least of all, my imperfections. But God continued to guide us through for his own purposes.
He’s done that through wonderful staff who’ve committed their time and energy; terrific followers and subscribers, whom we hope to impact as much as they’ve supported us; and through the prayer and financial support of people like you! That last bit is why I’m here today at the start of December—we need your help.
We don’t raise a ton of funds, but the money we do receive through Patreon, Ko-Fi, and PayPal helps us do these activities:
- Fund social media campaigns that inform others about our ministry
- Train staff
- Pay for the website and other digital expenses
- Help our staff create content through subscriptions and cost reimbursements
- Fund giveaways and contests
With the few hundred dollars we receive each month, we keep the lights on and keep expanding our ministry in both breadth and depth.
Our annual campaign kicks off today and ends this Friday with three modest goals in mind:
- Reach $275 in monthly, sustained gifts
- Earn $500 in one-time gifts
- Receive one Throne item
You can help us reach our goals through these platforms, with details described below:

That first goal would increase our giving by about 25% a month, which could dramatically change how we can do things at Beneath the Tangles—increasing the quality of our content and helping us make more of it! To reach that goal, we need supporters to donate through Patreon where our levels are all Naruto-based, from Ninja Academy and Genin levels, which are $1 and $2 a month respectively, up to our Kage $25-a-month level. You can also give monthly through Ko-Fi!
That second goal is for all you folks who want to give to us just once this holiday season. We appreciate your generosity in doing so! You can help us reach that one-time goal of $500by giving through Ko-Fi; you can also provide a one-time gift through Patreon or Paypal.
Finally, we’re excited to reintroduce you to our Throne! These are subscriptions and gifts that are specifically requested by staff to help us develop our content and reach people better. We only have a few gifts up there right now: we encourage you to check them out and perhaps make a specific purchase to help our team!
