The Kingdom of Science is gearing up for its biggest journey yet. After having gone through a seven-year petrification hiatus, our ragtag group of scientists is back in action, ready to resume their mission to confront the mysterious source of the petrification beam, “Why-Man” up on the Moon. However, to pull this off, former enemies must become allies as Dr. Xeno joins the gang and makes plans to construct a PRODIGIOUS rocket to slip the surly bonds of earth! As per usual, though, this journey of a thousand miles must start with a single step…or steps in this case. From creating superalloys to refining high-performance engine fuel, our crew must once again divide and conquer to best utilize their respective talents. However, an ominous NEW message from the Moon does NOT bode well for our young scientists. Just what in the heck is up there anyway? And will our intrepid group of intellectuals even get there? GET EXCITED FOR THE SHENANIGANS!

Welp, we have finally arrived, guys! We’re at the grand finale of what has been one of the most amazing anime journeys of my lifetime, and this premiere episode shows why. It highlights everything that makes the show a must-see and each manga volume a must-read. While it’s easy to write off the story as repetitive—and even I can see the validity of that argument as a dyed-in-the-wool Dr. Stone fanboy—it’s the execution that keeps things fresh and entertaining, especially the character interactions. It’s always fun seeing how our group integrates former foes, and since Xeno and Stanley were two of the deadliest opponents, you can’t help but watch them to see if they have ulterior motives as they join the fold. And of course, the show excels on the production side with regards to music, animation, and the English Dub—Aaron Dismuke continues to play our leek-haired science boy with the same aplomb as in Episode 01. You can tell he’s having a ball as Senku, as does the rest of the cast with their characters. ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION takes over OP Song duties with “Skins,” which sounds OK, but honestly, after coming from the absolute BOP that is “CASSANOVA POSSE,” I can’t say it’s a real bop. Burnout Syndrome comes back one more time for the ED song with the appropriately titled “ROCKET,” and it sounds really cool—a nice ending song to close out the series.

So, where does that leave us with Dr. STONE SCIENCE FUTURE Part 3? OF COURSE, I’m gonna recommend you watch this one. Heck, we’re over eighty episodes into the narrative, so you owe it to yourself to stick around to the end! Even though we’re reaching the grand finale of our journey, there’s still plenty of mysteries, adventures, and shenanigans to be had with the Kingdom of Science, as we pull a Jules Verne and go from the Earth to the Moon! If you are a fan of Dr. Stone, there is PLENTY to Get Excited over for this conclusion.
Finally, I would be remiss if I didn’t point out the irony of this final act airing right when humanity is deciding to take another trip to the moon. I see what you did there, Boichi. Well done, sir. Well done indeed.
