Six months into the relationship between Miyu Suzuki and Yusuke Tani, things are proceeding at their own frantic yet gentle pace between our stoic straight man and his spastic lady. Christmas time is here, and with the arrival of the holiday season, what better way to enjoy the season than spending time with your friends looking at Christmas lights, having a home date, and baking a cake with your beloved? How will our respective friend group lovebirds handle the holiday? And what exactly will go down when Miyu and Yusuke have the whole house to themselves on Christmas Eve? Will all still be calm and bright? Cue up the romantic shenanigans! 

Another season with this amazing friend group? Yes please! It feels like forever since we last were with these prodigiously awesome characters, and yet the story picks right up where we left off, as though no time has passed! Not only do we get more time with Miyu and Yusuke, our primary couple, but we also get to see how our other secondary couples are faring—the extroverted goofy goober Yamada and his painfully shy love interest Nishi, along with the Danny Downer Taira and the friendly space cadet Azuma. This show does a brilliant job of giving us moments with each of these “side couples” sharing the spotlight, making them just as interesting and fun to watch as our main pairing. Speaking of things fun to watch, I can’t wait to hear the English dub for this one! Unless something comes out of left field, I think this show is in the running to be one of, if not THE best dubbed anime of 2026!

So, where does that leave us with You and I Are Polar Opposites season 2? Simple. If you enjoyed following the daily romantic lives of these high school dorks, then you will more than enjoy this second season. Beyond being a cute romcom, You and I continues it’s exploration of how the bonds we develop with others can improve our lives for the better—a lesson I think we all need a reminder of in these…interesting times.
