Fruits Basket is one of the most eagerly awaited anime of 2019, and with good reason. The unique setting in the original manga provides a fresh take on the “reverse harem” genre, and the execution results in a world that is at once familiar and strange, sad and light-hearted, tense and funny. So it’s no… Read More Dr Steve’s First Impression: Fruits Basket
JeskaiAngel recently wrote a post about slavery in Rise of the Shield Hero. I don’t intend to cover the same topics, in part because J-Angel clocked in at over 4,500 words, so there’s just not a whole lot left to say! What I’d like to focus on here is the scene where Raphtalia receives a… Read More Raphtalia and the Slaves of Love
Since my esteemed colleague stardf29 has already provided the basic premise for this show, I shall forgo the usual pleasantries and jump straight into my reaction. There are a handful of survivors from our time (this is a manga,… Read More Dr. Stone’s Philosophy of Science

You can find the full version of the song and its official music video on YouTube. Most of the music video—admittedly with quite campy visuals—is a simple… Read More What a Hero Desires (“Closer” by Joe Inoue)
Resemblances notwithstanding, I promise you that this post is not a rehash of TWWK’s stellar reflection. There are at least four scenes in MHA when All Might or Midoriya use One for All and go beyond their full power. Of course, Plus Ultra is one of the series’ catch-phrases, so it’s natural that we’d see… Read More All Might, Midoriya, and how to go beyond your limits

One of his allies is a fellow young Black Bull, Gauche; the other is the old nun who cares for many of the kids in that… Read More The Nun and the Scientist: Upside-Down Values in Black Clover
