Welcome Our New Co-Blogger, Murasaki Lynna!

When I sent out a call for co-bloggers a few weeks ago, I was very happy to receive applications from my friend R86 and from Goldy, who has hit the ground running.  At the last minute, however, I received another application that also floored me.  And so, starting today, Beneath the Tangles adds a fourth blogger – murasakilynna.  And like the others, she’s being initiated through an interview.  Please welcome our newest co-blogger!

TWWK: How did you become a fan of anime?

Murasaki Lynna: When I was around 12-13 I began to surf the Internet. One day, when I was on YouTube, I discovered some Inuyasha AMVs. The story and the characters looked so cute and interesting, and I was like “What’s this cool stuff?”.  And soon enough, I was all wrapped up in it…

TWWK: What are your favorite types or genres of anime? How about favorite shows?

Murasaki LynnaMy favorite genres are primarily shojo, but I also enjoy slice of life and some shounen.  My favorite shows are Clannad and Clannad After Story and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. I also enjoyed the mangas of Gakuen Alice (never watched the anime), Aria (also never watched the anime), Fruits Basket (the manga was much more in-depth) and Shugo Chara (the Anime got quite side-tracked at the end).

TWWK: But hey, you’re more than just an anime blogger. What do you do in “real life”?

Murasaki Lynna: I go to high school XD  That being said, I do my best to enjoy it as much as I can. The subjects I’m taking right now are English, French, Earth Science, and History. During summer break, I go sailing a lot with my family.

TWWK: How about other interests?

Murasaki Lynna: My high school’s Drama club funding was cut, which made me really sad, so I plan to join the community theatre to fill that hole in my heart.  I play the flute in my school Jazz Band and in my district Honor Band, and I’m learning trumpet (though very, very slowly. Too slow to keep up with my Jazz Band). I  enjoy singing too, in the musical side of life. I also do Gymnastics, and as you can see, way too many things. My true passion, though, is writing.  I write a lot of Fantasy and Poetry, and it is my dream to become an author. I’m hoping that writing for a blog will improve my writing.

TWWK: Where else can readers find you?

Murasaki Lynna: I just recently joined MAL. Here’s my profile: http://myanimelist.net/profile/Lynna_Song

And On CAA, I go by Lynna.

TWWK: The theme of this blog is unique since it revolves around Christian spirituality. You are a Christian. Could you give us the short testimony about how you came to this faith?

Murasaki Lynna: I was raised in a christian family, but didn’t actually become a christian until I was eight. This was mostly because I didn’t really understand the reason why Jesus came to earth and died for us, and because I was a little goody-two–shoes, so I thought that all you had to do to be a christian was to believe in God, go to church, and be “good”. However, I slowly began to notice all this talk about being Saved by Grace. One day, it just suddenly hit me that my whole way of thinking was wrong, and that I needed to accept Jesus into my heart to be saved, and so I did. Life has gotten rough a lot of times since then, but my faith has always gotten stronger because of it.

TWWK: And finally, on a less serious note, let’s end on some fill-in-the-blank!

If I were Haruhi Suzumiya, I would…

Get Kyon to help me with my homework, and wish more awesome things into the world (fairies, dragons, elves…).

Mecha anime are…

A mystery to me, since I haven’t watched any yet. Maybe some day?

K-On! is so…

awesome-looking. It’s on that list of animes that I hope to get around to watching someday.

My life would be incomplete if I’d never seen…

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.  That show has some of the best characters and plot lines ever! It’s hard for me to think of a time when I didn’t love it.

My favorite thing/character/setting to draw is…

characters, in and of themselves. I love experimenting with different expressions and poses to bring the drawing to life. I would like to draw fan art, but I’ve never gotten to the point where I was good enough at drawing other people’s characters to do so.

My soul reaper bankai would, of course, be called….

“Akairyu” (Red Dragon) because….well… I like dragons, and the red ones are especially cool.

and its power, most naturally, would be to…

Stop time. I could do so many useful things if time would just slow down a little. Then I could procrastinate as long as I wanted…

Now that’s a good power.  🙂

Come back tomorrow to read Murasaki Lynna’s first post on Beneath the Tangles!

But seriously, your comments on drawing and fanart are interesting to me. Not to spoil too many surprises, but you might or might not want to look out for a post of mine about anime fanart, which may or may not appear in about three weeks. 😉
