Adam, Eve, an Apple, and a Spinning Penguindrum

More than ever, Mawaru Penguindrum gave its audience food for thought in the way of religious symbolism in episode 20.  ajthefourth compares Himari’s punishment to those of Adam and Eve.   Draggle also mentions the Adam and Eve symbolism and discusses the portions of the episode in terms of Christianity, the Gnostics, and Buddhism.  Finally, SnippetTee comments on the symbolism and finds interesting contrasts between the apple in the hand of a female Eve figure and in the hand of a male, like Jesus.

No other news in anime and religion this week on the blogosphere, except to mention that Taylor Ramage, a terrific writer who has guest blogged for Beneath the Tangles in the past, has moved her site to wordpress.
