The Tangles Anime Podcast: Episode 9

For episode 9, we are excited to have Alexander (pseudonym: Lord Marlin), the administrator of Anime of Tomorrow and Affinity for Anime, as our guest. While a professing humanist or atheist, Alex has had an outstanding relationship with Beneath the Tangles and our staff. In order to capitalize on our unique guest for this month, we have changed our normal formula and, for this month only, the entire episode will be treated as a Q&A a la the normal “Listener Mail” portion of the podcast. We cover a variety of topics that I think you will all enjoy!

Feel free to stream the episode below, subscribe on iTunes, or check out our RSS feed!

Also, be sure to email us with any questions you would like included in our “Listener Mail” portion, including the name you would like stated in the podcast and your website or blog for us to share!

  1. Nice remix on the last 10 seconds. Was waiting for the bass to drop though.

But actually, this was a good discussion. For the record, I say my last name as “RahMAHJ,” but my relatives down south say “RAMidge.”

I’m also hard-pressed to find positive portrayals of atheists/atheism largely because a lot of fiction I’ve come across doesn’t focus on that specifically. Tales of Symphonia comes to mind, though I might reframe that as tearing down an imitation of religion or spirituality rather than dismantling the actual thing. I ultimately don’t see that narrative as conflicting with a more genuine faith or spirituality, but don’t deny that on the surface it’s definitely friendly to agnostic or atheistic views.

Anyway, thanks for the shout out. I like this pure Q&A formula and it’d be cool to see it come back in the future.

    1. Thank you for listening and thank you for the feedback! We’ll definitely take what you said into account as the podcast moves forward! 😀

      1. lol I have to admit that’s a new one. I’ve gotten “Damage,” “Ravage,” ruhMAYJ,” and “Rahmaji.” It’s funny because it seems like a pretty simple name to me, but I guess it trips up other folks lol.

  2. Hey Tangles, thanks for the podcast, it’s one of the shows I look forward to dropping on iTunes the most! This episode sent me to the “Our Values and Beliefs” section of the site, and I didn’t see anything about the bodily resurrection of Jesus where it spoke of critical points. Is this an issue for any of you? I think it’s an essential doctrinal belief when defining Christianity, and was wondering why it wasn’t there? Trust me, I’m not being pedantic- I just think it’s important to understand where people are coming from on such a fundamental issue. 🙂

    1. Hi, Philip. Rest assured, our stance is that Jesus physically rose from the dead.

Thanks for checking us out, and for listening to the podcast!
