I decided to also check out the first episode of Tsuredure Children. As TWWK already given his first impression, I’ll let him give you a summary of the series:
Based on a 4-koma web manga, Tsuredure (Tsurezure) Children follows several different high school couples as they navigate relationships. Each episode is only 15 minutes long, with episode one spending several minutes each on a couple. Wikipedia explains that the series is ultimately about “how hard it is to say ‘I love you.'”
I like shorts. They’re fun and comfy to wear…wait, I mean short-form anime! Anyway, I generally watch a few each season. This may be among the ones I end up watching. Tsuredure Children reminds me of Love, American Style, an American TV series from the 60s/70s about random, romantic-comedy stories. This series is much the same. Each of the high school characters have a crush. Each want to tell them. The circumstances range from the super cutesy (couple 1 and 4) to overtly sexual (couple 2) to rather creepy (couple 3). In a short form series, it may end up working especially as each couple only gets about 2-3 minutes a piece to tell their story. Any depth to the creepy side stories may (hopefully) get lost in the mix of of the other more interesting characters. I enjoyed the overall cute, mindless romantic comedy we got for 3/4 of the episode. At 12 minutes an episode, honestly – I’ve watched worse.
Tsuredure Children is available for streaming on Crunchyroll.
