Take an Anime Survey and Enter to Win a $50 Amazon Gift Card

Anime and manga are increasingly being studied at an academic level. Although I’ve never entered the world of academia myself, much less studied anime at that level, I’ve had the good fortune of meeting folks who have, taking a class long ago with Dr. Susan J. Napier and grabbing coffee with Brian Ruh, who once wrote a column covering the academic side of anime for Anime News Network. Several years ago, I also happened across an anime survey being conducted by faculty at several universities, unified as a series of studies called the International Anime Research Project.

Earlier this year, I met with Dr. Stephen Reysen (over ramen, of course) of Texas A&M University-Commerce to discuss this project. At the time, he was preparing for the next leg of it – and it’s now available. Here’s his pitch:

Hello, the International Anime Research Project team is calling on all Anime Fans (18 years of age or older) to participate in the 2017 anime survey. This year we are delving deep into one’s favorite character. The survey is anonymous and should take less than 30 min to complete. Participants are eligible to win a $50 Amazon gift card (chances of winning are 1 in 75, draw entries will be confidential and not associated with survey responses). You can contribute to the psychological and sociological understanding of the anime fandom by completing the anime survey online:

Anime Survey

I encourage you to visit and take the survey. I’m glad that higher education has an interest in anime and fandom, and I hope we can support those pursuing these studies. Plus, a chance to win a gift card ain’t so bad either.

Please click the above link and help the researchers out! The survey closes September 8th.
