We had so much fun doing a J-Novel Club selection for our last meeting, that we’re diving in and doing another one this time! But despite a similar name, this novel is no genderbending fantasy—we’re right square in isekai territory with our newest pick, How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom:
“O, Hero!” With that cliched line, Kazuya Souma found himself summoned to another world and his adventure–did not begin. After he presents his plan to strengthen the country economically and militarily, the king cedes the throne to him and Souma finds himself saddled with ruling the nation! What’s more, he’s betrothed to the king’s daughter now…?! In order to get the country back on its feet, Souma calls the wise, the talented, and the gifted to his side. Five people gather before the newly crowned Souma. Just what are the many talents and abilities they possess…?! What path will his outlook as a realist take Souma and the people of his country down? A revolutionary transferred-to-another-world administrative fantasy series starts here!
Sounds like a lot of fun! Please join us in reading the story. It’s not yet available in print (it’ll be out in that form in September), so you’ll need to grab a digital copy. Please read through during the month of June and join us on JULY 5th as we give our thoughts on volume one and ask for yours!
We can’t wait to give you our feedback, but more than that, we want to get yours! Please read along!

*know the
I’ve always wanted to join in on these, but I could never find the time to read the LNs. I’ve already read this one though so 👍🏾
Oh nice! We look forward to hearing your thoughts!
This has a Manga adaptation that I found 11 chapters of in English. So I may read that, i’ve gotten quite into Isekai.
Cool! I’ll be eager to hear your thoughts from that perspective.
