And Our Next Light Novel Club Selection Is…Toradora!

Ten years ago today, the first episode of Toradora aired on TV Tokyo. And the world was forever changed. Okay, maybe not, but my world was. Until Oregairu swept over me (you might see that title find its way into the light novel club at some point), Toradora was my favorite anime. Stylish, cool, funny, and full of surprises, Toradora balances the tropes that make anime romcoms so good with depth that makes viewings and reviewings worthwhile.

But does the light novel that was adapted into the series reach those same heights? @stardf29 and I will investigate and find out as we dive into volume one of Toradora. For those unfamiliar, here’s a summary from Amazon:

Takasu Ryuuji might look like a thug, but he’s actually a nice guy. Making friends when you’ve got an unintentionally scary face is tough–and don’t even get him started on girlfriends. But with his secret crush in his class, the start of his second year of high school is off to a good start…until he crosses paths with Aisaka Taiga. Beautiful, frightening, and not quite five feet tall, the girl known as the Palmtop Tiger is the one person in school even scarier than Ryuuji himself–and he’s just made the mistake of making her very, very angry.

We hope you’ll read along with us, and then return here when we have our light novel discussion on November 9th!
