Yukimura Shinya and Himuro Ayame believe in the power of science. Not unlike Dr. Stone, this duo is out to decipher the meaning of love and how it works. It being just a feeling isn’t enough, and they will break it down so they can truly understand what makes people fall in love. They want to understand it mainly because they are in love with each other, but aren’t sure how to go about it.
What do scientists do? They experiment and analyze! Asking their fellow colleagues for help, they go through the process of what a date is and if being in love with a 2D game character can be quantified. The episode also gives some backstory on Shinya and Ayame, which is pretty comical at the end of it.
This show was exactly what I wanted and more. Not only was it just silly, had great animation with sharp colors and design, but it also made fun of itself tastefully. It reminded me of Anime-Gatari, and I had a few laughs throughout the episode. I was surprised that the two main characters were already in love with each other, I thought it would progressively get there as they theorized what love is.
I enjoyed this one, and I am glad it wasn’t full of fan-service. It was enjoyable and I will be watching more of this, just to unwind and have a laugh while two scientists can’t just accept the feelings they have for each other. Love is not so easily figured out, and it is a wonderful thing that we all have a longing for.
