One of our favorite anime series here on Beneath the Tangles is Mawaru Penguindrum, Kunihiko Ikuhara’s colorful, sometimes dark, sometimes whimsical series involving terrorists, magical girl sequences, frog eggs and love potions, and of course, penguins. It’s a remarkable show, and one that ultimately has something meaningful to say in addition to the layers and layers of creativity and storytelling.
To celebrate it’s tenth anniversary, the series is receiving a compilation film—a very cool surprise, indeed! The following artwork, posted this week, is in response to the wonderful news:
