It’s been more than ten years since Mawaru Penguindrum premiered and it remains one of the most creative and best anime ever produced. Re:cycle of Penguindrum, a re-editing of the series as two compilation films including new material, premiered this year, and has renewed interest in the series.
One of the iconic images from the show is of Himari’s transformation sequence and the the character she becomes, the Princess of the Crystal. This illustration is by one of my favorite artists, who for the first time has recently starting posting fanart, and is putting out many such drawings. I’ve been in heaven!
