First Impression: The Misfit of Demon King Academy Season 2

In all fiction, characters come along who stand the test of time and make an impact like no other. Such a character is Catha Crunoah of the Anos Voldigoad Fan Union…and of course Anos and the other main characters of the series. And they’re all back, still feeling the effects of the war that ended last season. Students from the human world are now visiting the school in an exchange program, some believe Anos is the demon king of tyranny while others still don’t, and a “child of God” is coming to destroy our hero. This child is spoken of by the god Nousgalia while possessing the body of the new homeroom teacher, Erdomaid Dittijohn. Nousgalia claims that the child is someone in the school itself, so our heroes go searching. Lay and Misa, Sasha and Misha, and the Bianca sisters all find themselves confronted by enemies while Anos is challenged to a battle of wits to save Buttercup before Prince Humperdinck shows up. Wait, no. He’s challenged to a battle of wits by Erdomaid’s servant, Ziek Ozma for the lives of his friends and information on the child.

I feel the same way about school, Sasha.

Admittedly, there were a few uncomfortable moments in this one with a representative of “God” trying to impregnate a woman against her will to birth the child of God. But the main portion of the story was a lot of fun. The characters continue to be interesting and entertaining. The animation is just as enjoyable as last season. Anos remains awesome as the unreasonably overpowered protagonist with whom the writers are clearly having a blast going over the top in terms of power. And the return of best girl, Catha is a welcome sight. We will need to see how deep the show goes into uncomfortable territory but at this point, it’s definitely exciting to see what’s going to happen.
