AniMarch Madness 2024 Championship: Spy x Family vs. Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End

Four weeks. Six rounds. More than 16,000 votes cast. And now it all comes down to this one match!

On Monday, you voted in our Final Four matches. Though these were the four anime that blazed through the competition and should have all stood high, two were clearly the strongest competitors—and that’s been clear throughout the competition.

Newcomer Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End proved that their easy wins (for the most part—a match against A Sign of Affection proved to be a challenged and demonstrated that the romcom should be a strong competitor in years to come) in the Emerging and Recent region were no fluke. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, the immovable object for so many years in AniMarch Madness, was soundly trounced by the elf mage and her friends, 62.75% to 37.25%.

And on the other side, last year’s champion, Spy x Family, continued its remarkable two-year run, now winning eleven matches in a row. Its path wasn’t quite so easy as Frieren’s, with tough matches against powerhouse Fruits Basket and former champion Violet Evergarden, but this past round was a cinch, as Anya and the team obliterated Demon Slayer, 66% to 34%.

And today, the two titans face off! Who will win—the upstart that has flown right through the tournament so far, or the returning champ?

It’s up to you! Vote now!

Polls are open for next 24 hours. Remember that just as been the case in the entire tournament, you can vote here on the blog as well as on our other platforms: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Discord, and Mastodon!
