Yoshino is the beautiful granddaughter of a Yakuza boss. She lives a normal life in Osaka until her grandfather brings up her love life (or the lack thereof). Without taking into account her wishes, she is pushed into an arranged marriage with the grandson of the Miyama clan, Kirishima. Before she knows it, Yoshino is living in Tokyo with the Miyama clan, where she slowly starts getting to know Kirishima. At first, she’s glad to see him behave like a regular guy, but she quickly finds out that he’s a yakuza grandson through and through. When three shady guys bother Yoshino, Kirishima reveals his true self by unashamedly beating them within an inch of their lives. Yoshino is shocked by this, and after an unpleasant conversation with him, she wishes to go home. But her grandfather suggests an alternative idea: lead him on for a year and then dump him. Yoshino is not about to lose to Kirishima, so she immediately puts that plan into action. Her first step is successful, but will she be able to keep up with Kirishima’s wild personality?

I have mixed feelings about the art style. I appreciate how recognizable the main characters are, but I’m not a big fan of the thick lines. The animation is a bit rough because there is too little in-between animation. The voice acting was solid, especially for Yoshino, who speaks in Osaka dialect. The story is tough to judge from one episode, but the pacing and dialogue were solid. Personally, though, I find Kirishima a bit too unlikeable. I know there is a big market for “I can fix him” type stories, but I don’t see any redeeming quality in Kirishima. My problem is not with him being a criminal per se but rather that his callousness feels a bit over the top. Overall, I enjoyed watching this first episode, but I didn’t see enough reason to continue watching. However, if the synopsis sounds interesting to you, I think it’s worth giving a shot.
