Loid, Yor, Anya, and Bond are back, and in case you didn’t remember them, there’s a recap! Wait…if you don’t know the general story, why are you watching season three? Ahem, well, the recap lasts only a minute, thank goodness, before Spy x Family Season 3 lets loose with the Forger family on a weekend outing at the park. There’s ice cream, pudding, balloons, and…terrorism by claw excavator? As tends to happen, trouble follows the Forgers, this time in the guise of a construction worker going postal, er, excavational. Thankfully, Loid and Yor are basically superheroes, and thanks also to Bond and Anya, the worst-case scenario is averted!

Spy x Family returns, with the first half of the episode reminding us of all the things we love about this series: mostly the incredible Forger family, with all four members getting about an equal chance to shine in the opening half of the episode. Even Bond! Borf! The opening also serves to remind us as viewers that this is really a top-notch adaptation; Wit Studio and CloverWorks produce this series so lovingly, ensuring that this wonderful franchise receives excellent animation, lovely music, strong scriptwriting, and virtually everything else you’d want in a show. Meanwhile, the second half of the episode is a little more plot-oriented, though it, too, is relatively “slice of life” (or slice of spy?), with the dream combo of Fiona Frost and Franky Franklin finally coming together! Wait, this wasn’t a ship you ever wanted? Trust me, you’re really going to pull for them after they get entangled in a mission together. And as that mission concludes—and the lovely, nostalgic ED begins—season three, episode one of the great action comedy anime ends, leaving not a single reason to think that the series won’t continue to be a wondrous ride. Welcome back, Forgers!
