A girl gets summoned to another world to be a Saintess, but those who summoned her think her Skills are worthless and she gets forcibly teleported into the wilderness. It might be a familiar start to the story, but the girl, Rin, decides to make the most of her new circumstances and begins setting up camp. While fishing for some food, she inadvertently catches Vil, a draghoul adventurer who ran into some trouble and is now quite hungry. The two bond over shared food, and Rin reveals her Skills: a Survival skill that provides information on the edible items in the world, helps her maintain composure, and warns her when she’s in danger; and Camper Van, which summons a camping RV with practically infinite food and water. Realizing how insanely useful these Skills are for an adventurer, Vil asks Rin to join his party, which Rin agrees to; it doesn’t hurt that Vil is awfully handsome…
This was a really fun episode, largely because Rin is such a fun protagonist. She’s extremely cheerful and enjoys life too much to be worried about her situation, which suits the lighthearted atmosphere of the show. She also has a friendly nature that makes her and Vil’s interactions rather nice, though the highlight there is Rin’s internal thoughts on how hot she finds her newfound adventurer companion. As befitting a food-themed story, there is plenty of gushing over delicious food, and while the RV concept isn’t completely unique to isekai stories (see the light novel RVing My Way into Exile with My Beloved Cat and insert a comment about two nickels), it’s still a rare and fun concept that should make for some entertaining moments later on (also, I’m admittedly quite interested in RVs myself). I’m also very interested in how the rest of Vil’s party will get along with Rin, as it’s a mixed-gender party with a married couple that should allow for some fun dynamics while avoiding a reverse-harem situation. Overall, this show’s got good food, a great protagonist, plenty of fun, and an RV; that’s enough for me to come back for seconds.
