November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), and we’re celebrating by inviting YOU to get creative and help bring our beloved mascot, BtT-chan, to life!
Throughout November, we’re hosting a special writing contest on the Beneath the Tangles Discord server, and the winning entry will be transformed into a video featuring original artwork by our artist, Myu, and voice acting by Amanda Gish (My Hero Academia, Goblin Slayer), with additional performers as needed!
And the best part? You don’t need to write a novel—or even a full short story—to participate! Anyone with an idea can participate with just a little time and creativity. We’re asking you to write a short scene featuring BtT-chan. It could be funny, heartfelt, adventurous, or thoughtful. Maybe you’ll explore her personality, introduce a quirky habit, imagine how she became our mascot, or send her on a little adventure. It’s entirely up to you!

Here are the basics:
- What to write: A monologue, short dialogue script, or four-panel comic script.
- How long: Up to 300 spoken words for a monologue or dialogue, or up to three four-panel comic strips.
- Who can appear: BtT-chan and up to two additional original characters.
- The prize: Your story brought to life with original illustrations, professional voice acting, and full writing credit!
- Deadline: November 30, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time.
This is your chance to put your own spin on BtT-chan! The contest isn’t establishing official lore, so feel free to have fun with your interpretation. And while we’re a Christian community, your story doesn’t need to include an explicit faith lesson.
It all takes place on Discord, so you need to be part of our community to enter:

You’ll find the full contest guidelines in our #november-writing-contest channel, along with a place to ask questions. Entries must be original, written without generative AI, and submitted privately according to the instructions on Discord.
And while you’re there, stick around! Our Discord is a welcoming community of anime fans who love talking about their favorite series, sharing their creativity, building friendships, and encouraging one another.
Whether you’re an experienced writer, an aspiring storyteller, or someone who’s never written anything outside of a school assignment, we’d love for you to participate.
So, who is your BtT-chan? We can’t wait to find out!
