Celestial Method: The End and a New Beginning

Opinions are fairly divided on this show, but I personally enjoyed Celestial Method (a.k.a. Sora no Method) a lot. And since the show did get some regular coverage before TWWK could no longer cover the show, I thought I would go ahead and close up the show with a look at its final arc. As it turns… Read More Celestial Method: The End and a New Beginning

Celestial Method, 5 cm/s, and Middle Acts

Whenever one anime season ends and another begins, I try to use that time to finish series on which I’ve fallen behind.  This season, that meant Celestial Method and Unlimited Blade Works.  I could have predicted what followed, though: I’ve staved off FSN, since I have a few months until the next cour, and I… Read More Celestial Method, 5 cm/s, and Middle Acts

Fall Anime 2014 Review (Part 2/2)

Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works Kaze – 8/10 As a surprise to probably no one, Unlimited Blade Works has proved to be one of the best shows of the fall season. With ufotable’s trademark animation and a near perfect faithful adaptation of the visual novel route, UBW has been a great… Read More Fall Anime 2014 Review (Part 2/2)

Celestial Method, Episode 9: I Did It My Way

noel celestial method

Celestial Method (Sora no Method) has a lot going for it – cute characters, emotional storylines, and a nice OP and ED (speaking of which, see and hear our own Japes sax up the show’s end theme). But I can’t say that the series is unique in any sense.  It revisits a lot of motifs,… Read More Celestial Method, Episode 9: I Did It My Way

Celestial Method, Episode 8: You Go First

Episode 8 of Celestial Method (Sora no Method) is, perhaps, the first in the series I’ve enjoyed from beginning to end.  We finally get a nice, emotional breakthrough for Shione and, just to mix things up a bit, the resolution isn’t a resolution at all, complicated by advancement of Noel’s storyline.  Nice. Shione’s development in… Read More Celestial Method, Episode 8: You Go First

Celestial Method Episode 7: Take the Step

Then why are you here, Nonoka? – Koharu (episode seven) Seven episodes into Celestial Method (Sora no Method), and the relationships between the group of old friends is almost wholly repaired.  The way the show was going, I thought that in this episode we might see Shione become the latest to break down and succumb… Read More Celestial Method Episode 7: Take the Step

Celestial Method Episode 6: A Slap for a Slap

As Celestial Method (Sora no Method) continues, it seems more and more obvious that for, at least the first half, the cast of characters are going to find redemption through Nonoka’s kindness.  In episode six, we get the conclusion of Yuzuki’s redemptive tale after her sudden conversion, to use religious terminology, in episode five.  Now… Read More Celestial Method Episode 6: A Slap for a Slap

[twwk] We all experiences hours and seasons of lon [twwk] We all experiences hours and seasons of loneliness. Some of us are experiencing months or a lifetime of it. But “feeling lonely” doesn't mean you're “alone.” God is here and he wants to meet you, befriend you, save you.

Wolfwood shows up in episode four of Trigun. He's a kindred if opposite spirit to Vash and challenges him in a variety of ways. He's challenged by Vash, too. In the original anime, the relationship leads to a spiritual awakening in his final scenes on the show.

While we're not qualified to be therapists and help you through your problems, we can be a Vash to your Wolfwood or visa-versa by being here to listen. By being here to pray—and prayer is so powerful. God answers prayers. It's why we have a group of people praying for Beneath the Tangles here on Instagram. We can't function without people praying for us.

If you need prayer or someone to listen to you, just send us a message. And remember that people do care, and more importantly, HE cares. In this sometimes overwhelmingly loud and sometimes painfully silent world, that’s meaningful.

Random comments on episode four:
• An improvement on the previous ones, but I still wouldn’t care about Vash if I hadn’t seen the original. They’re flying through the material too fast. Someone compared it to the beginning of FMAB.
• Wolfwood got a really nice introduction
• I like Roberto a lot. He’s my favorite character so far in this reboot. But I NEED Millie. 😭
• Just to pick on the above screencap—God is a proper noun here. Feels like a very specific and weird choice to keep it lowercased when the rest of the episode’s subtitling was clean.

Don’t you do it, Vinland Saga. Don’t you dare Don’t you do it, Vinland Saga. Don’t you dare go and make me cry. 😭

I have to be honest. While I'm enjoying a number of series right now, this season it feels like there's Vinland Saga, and then there's everything else. @wacotaku has been telling everyone that this arc is going to be amazing. It already is, and it's just begun.

Suletta Mercury, Part I: Stuck in the OT In part Suletta Mercury, Part I: Stuck in the OT

In part one of her meditation on Suletta Mercury, @c_1air_3 explains how the pilot misses the mark when it comes to relationships—and how we might be doing the same when it comes to our own with the Creator. Here's a sample of the article, which you can read in full on beneaththetangles.com:

"The reality is that we still often act a lot like the ancient Israelites—and not all that differently from Suletta—in our interactions with God. It seems easier, after all, to go about the life of faith as if it were a checklist of to-dos (and not to-dos); it’s more efficient to let religious leaders and voices of wisdom and authority in our life tell us what to do and define things for us, as the Israelites wanted Moses to do, and as Suletta does with her contracts, letting them determine for her who will be number one in her life. We too instrumentalize our relationship with God, like when we equate having daily 'quiet time' or hitting up church on a Sunday and maybe even mid-week small group, with living the life of faith. These things are great, and they can lead us into deeper encounter with God, but they can also easily turn into a checklist that isn’t actually accomplishing what we think it is..."
