After the final episodes of Madoka aired in late April, there was a rush of postings about the shows, with many discussing religious aspects of the finale. While I saw Christian elements in the final episodes, others focused on the the Buddhist principles expressed in the series end. I studied Buddhism in college, but that feels like a separate life ago, and I admit that the Buddhist symbolism in Madoka Magica was lost on me. Luckily, two awesome bloggers spent particular time outlining these ideas.
Yesterday, Jonathan Tappan of FunBlog wrote a post that functions as an accompanying piece to Yi’s extensive analysis. Tappan had previously posted a wonderful guide to Buddhism and anime.
