Something More: Faithful Fanfiction, Final Fantasy XV, and an Anime Testimony

Shalom my dear readers. That’s “hello” and “peace” in Hebrew! It’s time for your monthly round-up of incredible articles. From anime to video games and others, we’ve got you covered. I had a little bit of a hard time deciding on which post I should feature this time. There were several good ones, but it wasn’t until I read Lady_TeresaChristina’s testimony that I made a decision. She used various anime characters to portray different parts of her life, whether it was something good or bad. Not only are her words transparent and you get to know her more intimately, but at the end she encourages the readers to put their strength in Christ.

Gaining encouragement from our favorite anime is a good, but having the grace that only comes from God is so much better. Our entertainment can only do that, entertain, so when we really need that peace that surpasses the world, Jesus Christ is there for us. I hope you enjoy this excellent post from Otaku In My Veins!

I was sent the following article to check out by Simoku, a blogger I have never read before. The phrase “ganbatte” in Japanese means to do your best, and the writer explores what it means to love God with all we have. This includes a personal example from a camp with some high school students, along with how we can make the most of our relationships. I hope you check this one out. (Moonlight Mixtape)

This next author, My Father’s Daughter, submitted her fanfiction for Something More, and I have to say it’s pretty interesting. I’ve only read a couple chapters, but so far it’s about Haruka, who is a college swimmer. (Fanfiction.net)

The anime department at GUG has once again created a compilation article on “The Best Gateway Anime.” So many people see anime as just a children’s pastime, but there are some excellent recommendations that you can give to those that haven’t been exposed to it. Each staff member chose one or more of their own that they’ve suggested to their own friends, so I am sure you will find a new series to check out! (Geeks Under Grace)

The hottest RPG as of late has been Final Fantasy XV, and Dustin has written a short piece on the cost of sacrifice. In video games and outside of them, we all have to eventually give up something so we can continue moving forward. (Geekdom House)

One of our dear staff writers, Medieval Otaku, put together a short post on the anime Chain Chronicle. I’ve never seen it myself, but it’s interesting how he talks about grace and pride in humanity. We need His help so we can forgive others when they fault against us. Good read. (Medieval Otaku)

Robert is beginning to review a newer series titled Fuuka. I saw the first episode and it was OK, but it does have some fan service scenes. Overall, you can get his perspective on it before you view it, as well as a Christian point of view. Enjoy! (Christian Anime Review)

Mage wrote about the anime Medaka Box, which is a simple anime about a strong-willed female lead. It’s a typical high school show about Medaka Kurokami, but Mage was able to find truth through the Apostle’s Creed. God can be found in our weakness, and our strength. No matter what we go through, Christ has walked through it already as a man. Check out the article to see the connection between this anime and faith. (Mage In A Barrel)
