A few months ago, we reached out to ask for volunteers to join Beneath the Tangles. We filled several positions, but are still looking for a few others! If you’d like to help us in our mission / ministry, please consider applying.
All staff at Beneath the Tangles are Christian and we see this site as both a place to develop quality content as we geek out about our hobby as well as the conduit through which we discuss and share our faith. If you’re interested in joining our staff of dedicated volunteers, please see the openings below and apply by December 15th.
Note that all those applying must complete a staff application. Additional components are mentioned below in the description for each of the open positions. Application packets should be emailed to us.
Director of Development
Beneath the Tangles seeks a self-motivated individual to help our brand grow its financial resources. While we consider this a volunteer position, as others, the individual filling this position will have both the opportunity to receive a dedicated percentage of funds raised and may develop this position into one with a regular salary. This position will work closely with the Director and report to him regularly.
Requirements / Qualifications:
- Experience in development and/or fundraising
- Knowledge of development practices
- Infectious attitude and self-motivation
- Excellent verbal / writing skills
- Non-profit experience preferred
- Passion for Christ and for evangelism
- Passion for anime and manga
Prefer:
- 2 years of working experience in development
- Experience with non-profit work
Volunteer Duties:
- Research non-profit status and make recommendation to the Director
- Lead development into non-profit status as necessary
- Administer Patreon account and develop other crowdfunding resources as necessary
- Research and apply for grant funding
- Develop relationships and raise funding
- Work with director to develop business strategy
Graphic Designer
Requirements / Qualifications:
- Excellent graphic design skills
- Ability to use Adobe and/or similar design platforms
- Willingness to work in spurts (project-oriented)
- Strong communication skills
- Responsible and deadline-oriented
- Passion for Christ and for evangelism
Prefer:
- Passion for anime and manga
- Experience designing graphics for social media and websites
- Web design experience
Volunteer Duties:
- Will work with the director to determine what kind of pieces to develop
- Will develop graphics for use on blog and other social media platforms
- May assist in blog / social media thematic designs
Vlogger
Beneath the Tangles seeks a high-spirited individual with strong video editing skills to become our first vlogger. This individual will have a wide degree of independence in developing a video program and running the Beneath the Tangles YouTube account.
Requirements / Qualifications:
- Video editing experience
- YouTube channel experience
- Infectious personality and excellent speaking skills
- Highly organized
- Passion for Christ and for evangelism
- Passion for anime and manga
Volunteer Duties:
- Develop anime-related YouTube videos on a regular basis
- Administer YouTube account
Resident Artist
Beneath the Tangles seeks an artist who can create work for use on the website and social media pages. This artist may develop some original art, but will mostly be counted on to develop fan art pieces. More thorough, finished work may be posted on Instagram and Tumblr accounts; less finished pieces may be requested for use on specific articles on the blog. Please see our shimai site, All You Shining Stars, for an example of how art may be incorporated into the blog (and also for an idea of the quality we’re seeking).
