The Winners of the BtT-chan Art Challenge Are…

The submissions are in. The evaluations are complete. And we have our winners for the first-ever Beneath the Tangles art contest, where we asked artists to draw their rendition of our logo, BtT-chan!

Before I post the winner, I want to thank everyone who entered the contest! Our judges were impressed and so encouraged by the entries that we received across all our different platforms. The decisions on who we awarded and who we left out were tough! I don’t envy our judges at all in making these final decisions.

A special thank you to our friend Austin Thurmond who partnered with us on this contest! Please give him a follow. He’s such an encouragement to us and a wonderful artist to boot!

But without further to do, the grand prize winner of the BtT-chan Art Challenge is…

Zachary Burke for his cyberpunk/samurai version of BtT-chan!

Our judges were blown away by the concept, dynamism, and composition of this piece. It was super cool how Zachary retained the core components of the character while pushing her into a futuristic setting!

Congratulations, Zachary!

Our second award, named the Spirit of BtT Award, went to the piece that most represented Beneath the Tangles. For this award, the judges selected this lovely piece by Peddy (Swandive), a member of our Discord community, that features a “sort of enchantment” that is “warm and inviting…[bringing] out the best qualities of what it means to be an ambassador of Christ and an otaku at the same time.” Congratulations, Peddy!

We also selected several runners-up who all creates lovely and amazing pieces! Here are they—works by Sohini, KASUTORU NewsPaper, and Krackocloud (Discord)!

We are, again, so thrilled to see so many wondrous illustrations (including others that didn’t get awarded) created of our BtT-chan, and just as happy for all the engagement from our community. BtT is beginning to also move toward creating fictional, creative works, and this contest is a soft launch toward that end with this original character. Thank you for helping us move toward that direction—and stay tuned for more of BtT-chan in the future!
