I’ve long been encouraged by the storyline and particularly the climax of the Puella Magi Madoka Magica series, which has strong parallels to the Easter story. The movie sequels, however, throw a wrench in what I thought was a perfect ending. But as they’ve gone along, they’ve also made the series deeper and richer. Homura is even more broken, even more in need of a Savior.
I love this illustration by a new favorite artist, kieed. Homura, here, is reaching for one who could save her and one whom she loves. It reminds me of today, in fact, of Good Friday and of the very first Good Friday, when all had seemed lost.
However, we had only to wait until Sunday—the day when everything would change.
