Beyond the Pixels: Join Finding God in Video Games, Gaming & God, and BtT for FAITHCON 2025!

This Saturday, September 20th, Beneath the Tangles goes live at the “world’s first hybrid Christian convention”! I’m joining our friends from Finding God in Video Games and Gaming & God for Faithcon 2025, a really cool and authentic event that combines local live events with virtual ones as well! We go on at 5pm ET / 4pm Central with a panel that I think you all will enjoy!

Our panel is entitled, Beyond the Pixels: Digital Ministry Across Generations. I’m super excited to join with Steve and Samuru to chat about digital ministry to gamers and otaku. We all approach ministry from different perspectives and with emphasis on different platforms, so I think you’re going to get a variety of information from us as we talk about the landscape. For instance, Finding God in Video Games pushes out analysis virtually every day on platforms like Facebook and Twitter, while also posting videos and interviews (see one with me below!) and publishing books—including their thick tome and a brand new collection about K-Pop Demon Hunters. You know Samuru from his work on our Substack newsletter, but he also writes a ton on his site and his own Substack, tweets at you, and streams on Twitch, too!

So what are you waiting for? Register for the convention! The purpose of the event is to “make faith fun again,” and I guarantee, it is going to be fun! I’ve been working with the folks who put this event together, and they are just so energetic, sweet, and faithful. It’s gonna be an awesome time. Registration for the digital convention costs only $5, while those who go in-person to the St. Louis, Granite City, Long Beach, or Detroit locations will attend for free.

Finding God in Video Games

We are “Finding God in Video Games”, so it probably goes without saying that we love video games. And not just the games themselves, but the entire experience: the music, the collectibles, the stories, and the joy we’ve shared during our countless virtual adventures. But as much as we enjoy all things gaming and nerd culture, our greatest passion is our faith in Jesus Christ. For over nine years, we’ve combined our desire to reach and encourage our fellow gamers through our online writings as well as in video and podcast form, connecting lessons from our gaming experiences and other “nerdy” adventures with the eternal truths of Scripture.
