Luck and his comrades in the hero’s party have finally defeated the king. Entering a dimensional drift, they’ve ended the threat to their kingdom—or have they? Rumblings deep inside the drift suggest thousands, perhaps millions of demons remain, and Luck realizes this too: The demon king will resurrect. Separating the hero and warrior from himself, Luck decided to push forward alone, and for untold days, weeks, and even longer, he continues to fight. But once victorious, what will Luck find waiting for him? And given the chance, will he live life as the hero he deserves to be, or will he choose something more to his taste?

What a lovely first episode! Although the animation, fight scenes, character designs, and voice acting are all average, the first episode of I Became a Legend After My 10 Year-Long Last Stand was nonetheless a worthwhile watch. It’s all because of the series’ tone. This fantasy adventure features goblins and some grim situations, but it’s more of a happy, peaceful series. In fact, my face was smiling quite a lot throughout the first episode, as Luck show himself to be a kind and virtuous character right from the start (“To me, you guys are like family”), and has such good humor about him. Once he reaches the kingdom after his years-long battle (hardly a spoiler if you’ve read the title!), there are even more happy times. The episode also pumps the adrenaline a little, especially with a cliffhanger ending. It’s hard to tell if the show can keep up the interest in future episodes, but I’m eager to see if it can. A wonderful start!
