It’s been almost a week since the massive earthquake affected Japan, followed by the tsunami and aftershocks. Donations and other assistance are as needed as ever. One major project going on is Anime and Manga Bloggers for Japan, which is providing funds to ShelterBox and Doctors Without Borders. Anime News Network has a list of other charitable activities that animanga-related individuals, sites, and organizations are running.
For Christians readers out there, you might be interested in Christian organizations that are providing relief. First and foremost, I’d like to suggest giving to CRASH Japan. The mission of this organization is to provide disaster relief; as such, they are prepared for an event like this and were able to go into action right away. Yuki-Anne, a missionary in Japan associated with this blog, is volunteering through this organization. CRASH Japan is also looking for volunteers who can assist.
Here are other Christian organizations helping the Japanese people (most provided by Christianity Today):
- Samaritan’s Purse: This wonderful organization has long focused on providing needed goods, medical supplies, training, and other items to the needy. From their site: “The team in Sendai is determining areas of need, setting up a distribution network, and getting the much-needed supplies into the hands of local families as quickly as possible.”
- World Vision: Known for their Sponsor-a-Child program, they do so much more great work and are another organization I regularly give to.
- Asian Access: The goal of this organization is to multiply church growth throughout Asia. They are aiding in this disaster by working through their network of churches.
- World Relief: Another well-known organization, World Relief is apparently not physically present in Japan, but is partnering with the Japan Evangelical Alliance, which is associated with CRASH Japan.
- World Concern: This wonderful humanitarian organization is working with partnering Christian organizations.
- Saddleback Church PEACE RELIEF: This ministry of Saddleback Church (pastored by Rick Warren) is also contributing to the relief effort.
- Redeemer City to City: Another organization focused on church-planting, this organization has provided information about individuals and churches on ground level and ways to donate.
Again, I want to emphasize, GIVE. Help the suffering, homeless, needy, and lost.
In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.

There’s no guarantee that your money will go to Japan though; Japan, so far, has said that it does not require much foreign aid that this time. They are working more with governments than NGOs at the moment.
I donated money to a Buddhist charity called Tzu Chi because I knew they were already on the ground. They were founded in Taiwan, so I guess the proximity makes them more nimble and locally-sourced.
Absolutely. And it’s best that everyone does some research before they give. I’m mostly promoting CRASH because they are well-established in the country and because I know of a person working with them.

For those who are interested, CRASH is accepting teams in the future but not individual volunteers yet.

we will get some Bibles that we will distribute in the people . we will arrange prayer meeting at the end to prayer we will distribute the free food and Bibles..
By this we will arrange the saminor and prayer meeting in the different places..
If the Any donation will remain then with this we will get some books and other things that need in Education this matrial we will distribute in the Poor kids.

Jesus Christ Ministries (JCM) is a non profit, nondenominational Christian ministry working for the pread of the Gospel in Pakistan. We are working for this mission since the year 1999. We are located in District Layyah of Punjab Province of Pakistan.
In a period of only few years we have done an extensive work to send the gospel out in Pakistan. We live in a very backward and underdeveloped area of Punjab where people are illiterate, not only in the formal and non formal education, but as well as in the knowledge of the Word of God. And due to the lack of Education 8 out of 10 people have the tendency towards drugs and narcotics, which is a very alarming situation. People do not respect each other. People here do not value each other’s customs and rituals. They do not send their children to school. They do not read the Bible. They do not go to church. In a nutshell, they are far far far away from the Word of God. And this is the reason why we are starving to send the Gospel here in this area.
To get the Gospel to the people who need it, we have Sunday prayers. Also, we organize open-air prayer meetings in the surrounding areas where no pastor or evangelists are going with the Gospel. This way we are reaching those people who have never heard the Bible before. We have Bible Study classes two times in a month. Also, we have Sunday Schools where we teach people about who Jesus Christ is? And what is the purpose that he came on earth became a son of man and died for our sins.
Since our existence we have been doing this with self help. But as now we expand, we need your help to carry on our mission. Please join the helping hands that God has sent us. We need your help to spread the Gospel in Pakistan. There are many many more areas like Layyah that we have to reach. There is a great multitude that God yet have to save. We desperately need your help. We request you to come and work with us in partnership.
We are giving free fundamental and Bible education , we want to give free book,s clothes,shose and other matrial that they need in study. friends we also want to inform you that we do not have the table and chair , and not building , we are giving education in the open areas , therefore we need your help to carry on our mission.
