My Favorite (Anime) Things, 2017

I am the king of Christmas traditions. Each year, I push gently guide my family through the dozens of traditions I’ve built up through the past holiday seasons. And you are my family, too, my aniblog family, which means that I’ll bring you along through of my holiday blog traditions, one of which is putting my own spin on the “My Favorite Things” as I remember the year in anime that was. Please feel free to sing along!

Jean visits each region—inspector or spy?
Chise is purchased to serve, wed, or die,
Comets and sake and love-fated strings,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Hinata is bullied let’s sound the alarms,
Eren’s annoying let’s cut off his arms,
Tsuki ga Kirei plays with my heartstrings,
These are a few of my favorite things.

When Anime Strikes
And the fees sting,
And it makes me sad,
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don’t feel so bad.

Anonymous Noise? No the music is awesome!
Suzu was lovely amidst tragic outcomes,
Watanabe’s Replicants fight and fling,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Deku’s new teacher is quite short and stocky,
We’re getting another film from Miyazaki!
Praises of live-action GiTS I will sing,
These are a few of my favorite things.

When sequels bite,
And shounen stinks,
And it makes me sad,
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don’t feel so bad.

    1. 1. Acca-13! It’s a really good series.
      2. Watanabe is my favorite series director (Cowboy Bebop, Kids on the Slope, etc.). There were three shorts that were released before the new Blade Runner, and he directed the animated one, which was really good.
      3. YESSSSSSS! It’s coming!

  1. What did you mean when you said “We’re getting another film from Miyazaki!”? Are you referring to Mary And The Witch’s Flower coming out early next year?

    1. No, though I’m excited about that, too! Miyazaki has come out of retirement (again) to make another film with Studio Ghibli. It was announced this year and he’s currently working on it.
