First Impressions: Space Battleship Tiramisu

Space Battleship Tiramisu (Uchuu Senkan Tiramisù) is a short-form anime series (7 minutes) about Subaru Ichinose, a pilot of a mech, dealing with his everyday life and issues he faces. It’s not mostly about the giant mech battles, but instead is focused on comedy. In the first half of the episode, Subaru deals with troubles of trying to get in some food before his mech is sent off into a battle. He…causes a big mess just as he’s sent out into battle! In the second half, he’s dealing with trouble breathing. Turns out – inside of his space suit he put his undershirt on inside out. Getting dressed quickly after being teased coming out of the shower, Subaru put his shirt on inside out and backwards. What is he going to do?

Overall, the show was funny. Very silly while still taking the fight sequences mostly seriously. Mostly. We saw a lot of Subaru’s naked butt which for some may be enough to not watch the series. However, for those who choose to, it’s a silly episode with a very different take on the mech genre. Who cares about why they’re fighting when we can worry about getting food all over your cockpit while trying to eat last minute before being shuttled out into space?

Space Battleship Tiramisu (Uchuu Senkan Tiramisù) can be legally streamed at Crunchyroll.
