9. The Rising of the Shield Hero
In apparent efforts to outshine one another, new isekai series arrive each season trying to subvert expectations. The Rising of the Shield Hero seemed to be focused on that with initial episodes that brought controversy, but instead of resembling Goblin Slayer, Shield Hero has actually become quite standard isekai, but one that tells its story very well while creating some memorable characters, including the forever-bitter Naofumi and his companion, the former-slave raccoon girl, Raphtalia.
